Gran Turismo Movie Stars David Harbour; Movies in Theaters Summer 2023

David Harbour is revving up his engines ahead of the Gran Turismo movie that Sony is producing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Stranger Things star will be playing a retired driver who teaches a teenager how to drive like a professional. THR has also published a summary of the film. Based on a true story, this project is described to be the ultimate wish-fulfillment story of a teenage Gran Turismo driver whose gaming skills won him a series Nissan competitions that led to his dream of becoming a professional race car driver.

The Hollywood Reporter

Neill Blomkamp (director of the Academy-nominated film District 9), will direct the movie with a screenplay written by Jason Hall (American Sniper), and Zach Baylin(King Richard). Along with Kazunori Yamauchi, Hall serves as executive producer. The film will be produced by PlayStation Productions' AsadQizilbash and Carter Swan, Doug Belgrad, Dana Brunetti, and Doug Belgrad.

Gran Turismo is one of the many adaptations currently in development by Sony. Sony last year announced that Ghost of Tsushima was currently in production. Chad Stahelski (John Wick director) will be leading the project. The HBO TV adaptation of The Last of Us will premiere in 2023. Amazon is also working on a God of War series and Peacock has a Twisted metal show.

Gran Turismo will be in theaters August 11, 2023.
